Per rispondere al topic sui dischi trance del periodo 2k-2k1 ho rispolverato nella mia mente la memoria di alcuni vinili che reputo assolutamente storici, tra cui ho ritrovato anche questo di Gentleman Dick veramente eccezionale. La melodia dominante è la cosa indubbiamente più bella di questo pezzo, il motivo centrale è assolutamente da orgasmo dei sensi (anche perchè il sassofono, così come il sax, è uno strumento che io adoro da qualsiasi punto di vista, specie se inserito in contesti così piacevoli), e comunque tutto il brano è pervaso da un senso di quasi malinconia che però non sminuisce il valore assoluto del groove, dei suoni, della ritmica e dell'armonia che lo pervadono.

Questo disco, tra l'altro, giusto per aggiungere una curiosità, è uscito su label Ariola, la stessa dei mitici Snap! di "The Power".

Sulla scia del successo ottenuto dagli Interpol, ricalcando l'ondata del revival new wave, che negli ultimi anni sembra aver affiancato quella rock'n'roll, anche i Killers arrivano dal nuovo continente per proporre al grande pubblico la loro passione per quel sound accattivante tipico degli anni 80. Sintetizzatori, chitarre riverberate e una voce che cerca di raggiungere la tradizione new wave, sembrano essere le carte vincenti per il successo delle band dell'inizio del nuovo millennio. Niente di nuovo, niente è cambiato rispetto a 20 anni fa, ma è proprio questo che rende i Killers degni di ascolto, grazie alla loro irresistibile carica retrò che affascina anche chi gli anni 80 non li ha vissuti ma si immagina improbabili giacche larghissime con spalline annesse, calzini fosforescenti e pettinature cotonate all'inverosimile...

Allora, una volta tanto alzo la voce: PROCURATEVI assolutamente questo disco. E' qualcosa di fantasmagorico dal primo all'ultimo secondo.

DoX, se non lo conosci ascoltalo anche tu; sono convinto che ti piacerà.

E' una traccia fantastica, suoni elettronici bellissimi, trascinante da far paura. L'autore è Danny Wolfers, un geniaccio assoluto.

Legowelt began producing music when in the early 90ies the adolescent schoolboy came in sporadic contact with the sounds of Detroit's Underground Resistance, Model 500, Blake Baxter and Chicago heroes such as Farley Jackmaster Funk, Armando Gallop and mr.Fingers. Later on this palette of influences grew with early Mu-Ziq, Aphex Twin, Drexciya, various stuff from The Irdial Discs label and virtually every type of freaked deep music he could get his hands on.

But nothing had quite the influence of when he first heard a band called 'Unit Moebius' on the radio. A punky palette of RAW freaked out Lo-fi chicago trax and deep detroit jams made with machines which were found next to the garbage can. Shocked in awe he heard that this music came out of The Hague, Holland The very same city he lived in! Put on the right track by this fact he stumbled into the Bunker Records office and discoverd a world of contemporary autistic freaked music lovers who looked beyond all the bland house and dance music that ruled the media and clubs. Musical mentors such as IF and Melvin White (aka pametex) lectured him with even more unknown sounds such as early electro and the obscure pre-1983 Italian disco which production secrets were closely studied. In 1998 Bunker released the first vinyl of Legowelt : Pimpshifter, a 6 track mingled Italo Chicago combi which became an instant cult hit with tracks such as 'Stumvogel' and 'Total Pussy Control'.

Praticamente chi è passato per gli anni 90' non può non aver ascoltato almeno una volta questo brano

Escludento il contesto in cui è si è trovato (OST di un film di Vanzina non è il massimo ), il brano è intramontabile, l'incredibile e velocissima voce di John Larkin (AKA John Scatman, purtroppo deceduto qualche hanno fa) è semplicemente ipnotica

Essì, sono tornati... proprio loro... le icone per eccellenza degli anni 80', gli amati/odiati Duran Duran!

Stranemente non è il solito album fatto per racimolare qualche denaro, ma è un vero è propria opera concepita in 3 anni di registrazioni...e l'ottimo risultato è sotto gli occhio...vabbè...l'orecchie ( ) di tutti

Mi hanno stupito i DD per la loro sensibilità per il mondo che ci circonda, senza essere mai banali o superficiali come molti ( ignoranti ) li definiscono
Questa Intervista su Rockstar lo conferma, alla prima lettura, incredibilmente, sono rimasto basito difronte alla sintonia che ho trovato con le loro parole. Veramente una bella sorpresa.

Per gli amanti della vera chill-out, un fottuto capolavoro nato da questo genio (vero nome Paul Pesce ) che riesce ad unire ad un'ottima melodia, eccezionalmente rilassante, anche una base molto coinvolgente e in splendido stile chill-out strumentale.

Brano mai monotono, dominato dalle tastiere semplicemente spettacolari.

Da ripescare nei momenti di relax e di tranquillità assoluta, ma anche in situazioni di sesso & affini si lascia ascoltare e gradire stupendamente.

The New york dance group stormed the world with their hit Rapture, (Best Ibiza-tune of 2001). iiO is a group that was formed in New York by producer Markus Moser and vocalist Nadia Ali (a 20 year old siren with Pakistani parents, born in Libya, Africa and raised in NYC.). Semplicemente geniale. Una traccia melodicamente bellissima, di estrema atmosfera, con le tipiche sonorità chill-out che rilassano eccezionalmente in qualsiasi circostanza. Contenuto anche nella splendida raccolta "Winter chill" della Hed Kandi, è uno dei brani migliori in assoluto di Andy Turner.

Aim is one of the original members of the Grand Central roster and was discovered by Mark Rae back in the old days when Mark was working behind the counter of Fat City Records. The Barrow based beat-smith often made the journey down from the Lakes in the search of new records that couldn't be found in his resident hinterland.

Una delle più belle canzoni di tutti i tempi, per me. Semplicemente fantastica dall'inizio alla fine, melodicamente stupenda, trasmette quelle emozioni che a me soltanto i Supertramp e pochissimi altri gruppi di questo genere riescono a darmi.

E' tratta da "Breakfast in America", album assolutamente geniale da cui sono usciti anche capolavori assoluti come "Goodbye stranger", "The logical song" e l'omonima "Breakfast in America".
