Un utente del forum NeoGaf ha stilato un lungo elenco di moltissimi titoli giapponesi disponibili su Steam, con relative vendite, ricavate utilizzando SteamSpy. È da maggio 2016 che si impegna in questa meritoria opera, che permette di rendersi conto dell'apprezzamento dell'utenza PC per molte serie considerate per anni vendibili solo su console.
Prima di leggere i numeri, considerate che i valori fanno riferimento ai possessori, non alle copie vendute direttamente sul client di Valve (quindi rientrano nei dati anche quelli che, ad esempio, hanno ricevuto in regalo un chiave e l'hanno attivata su Steam). Inoltre va detto che, come tutti i dati provenienti da SteamSpy, anche questi non sono precisi al 100%, soprattutto quelli dei giochi meno venduti.
Infine, l'autore non pretende di riportare tutti i giochi giapponesi in vendita su Steam, ma ha fatto una selezione tenendo fuori gli indie, difficili da tracciare, e i free-to-play, che essendo gratuiti non avrebbe senso includere.
