Com'era prevedibile, la settimana dal 31 agosto al 6 settembre in Giappone è stata dominata dal lancio di Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Secondo i dati diffusi da Media Create il gioco Konami è stato il più venduto in assoluto, posizionandosi al primo posto nella versione PlayStation 4 e al secondo su PlayStation 3, relegando Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King in terza posizione seguito dai soliti Yo-kai Watch Busters e Animal Crossing.
L'uscita di Metal Gear Solid V ha peraltro influenzato pesantemente anche la classifica hardware, avendo dato una grande spinta alle vendite di PlayStation 4, balzata in questa settimana da 18.539 a ben 54.494 unità vendute.
