The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero è un JRPG con combattimenti tattici che racconta la storia di Lloyd Bannings all'interno del Crossbell Police Department, con vari casi da seguire che lo portano all'interno di una storia sempre più intricata, in compagnia di vari compagni di reparto.

Lloyd Bannings ritorna alla sua città natale per seguire le orme del fratello ed entrare nel Crossbell Police Department. Tuttavia viene assegnato alla Special Support Section, una nuova sezione alquanto sgangherata che svolge bizzarri compiti e aiuta chi ha bisogno. Con i suoi nuovi compagni affronterà il sottobosco criminale che opprime la città... e svelerà alcuni terribili segreti.
