Nell'ultimo numero della rivista Edge sono stati assegnati i premi ai titoli migliori del 2018, con molte conferme rispetto ad altre testate, ma anche qualche sorpresa. Immaginiamo che nessuno sarà stupito di vedere il GOTY (game of the year) assegnato a Red Dead Redemption 2. Le sorprese arrivano nelle classifiche delle singole piattaforme, dove vengono considerate solo le esclusive.
Il GOTY PlayStation 4 per Edge è nientemeno che Tetris Effect, seguito dall'ottimo Astro Bot. God of War, acclamatissimo altrove, spunta solo al terzo posto. Da sottolineare che Tetris Effect e Astro Bot sono due capolavori, quindi premiarli non solo è lecito, ma anche virtuoso visto che molti tendono a dimenticarseli con fin troppa facilità. Da notare comunque che God of War manca anche della classifica generale.
I premi delle altre piattaforme non offrono grosse sorprese. L'unica è il Game Pass al terzo posto su Xbox, evidentemente incluso per premiare uno dei servizi più innovativi dell'anno. Ma ora bando alle ciance e leggiamo tutti i GOTY di Edge.
