Durante la Game Developers Conference attualmente in svolgimento non potevano mancare le premiazioni ai titoli giudicati migliori in vari ambiti dell'anno passato. Il maggior numero dei premi è stato assegnato ad Uncharted 2, che si conquista anche in quest'ambito l'alto gradimento della critica, facendo diventare sempre più affollata la virtuale mensola del caminetto del gioco che ha conquistato un numero elevatissimo di premi dal suo rilascio. E' andato bene anche Scribblenauts, che si è attestato come miglior gioco portatile, mentre Flower ha vinto fra i migliori della categoria scaricabili. Gabe Newell di Valve e John Carmack si sono portati a casa rispettivamente il Pioneer e Lifetime Achievement Award, premi alla carriera.
